Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. This site uses very few, and none of them are advertising cookies.

The bot check

The signup form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. It does not set a cookie, but it does receive your IP address and some technical information about your browser in order to tell a person from a script. We use it because a public form without one fills up with junk, which would corrupt the very research the form exists to gather.

Traffic and performance measurement (no cookies, no choice to make)

Separately from the analytics you can accept or decline, our host Vercel measures two things on every visit: how many people reach each page, and how quickly pages load for real visitors. Neither sets a cookie and neither reads anything from your device, which is why they are not part of the banner - there is nothing stored on your machine for you to consent to.

What they do receive is the page address, where you arrived from, your approximate location from your IP address, and your browser and device type. Visits are counted using a code calculated on the server from the request itself and discarded after 24 hours, so the measurement cannot follow you between sessions or across other websites. We strip sensitive values out of the address first - the token in an unsubscribe link is never sent.

We rely on our legitimate interest in knowing whether the site works and whether anyone is reading it. If you object to this, email us at the address below.

Session recording

If you accept analytics, PostHog also records your visit: a reconstruction of the pages as you saw them, showing where you moved, scrolled and clicked. It is not video and it does not use your camera or microphone - it is a replay built from the page itself.

What you type is hidden. Every input box is masked before the recording leaves your browser, so your email address, anything you write in the free-text question, and your first name are never recorded - we cannot see them in a replay even though you typed them.

What you click is not hidden. The options you choose in the survey - how often you travel, your spending range, your occupation, the interests you pick - are visible in the recording, because they are part of the page rather than something you typed. We use recordings to see where the page confuses people. If you would rather none of this is recorded, decline analytics: everything on this page still works.

Analytics, and how to change your mind

Analytics only run if you accept them. The analytics software does load on every page, but until you accept it stores nothing on your device and sets no cookie. Declining costs you nothing - the site works identically either way.

One small exception, for honesty: your choice itself is remembered in your browser’s local storage so we do not re-ask on every page. It holds a yes or no, never an identifier.

You can change your answer at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer of every page. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent, which is how it should be.
